If you want to experience the real Crete rather than stay in a plastic hotel or holiday B&B, this is the place to stay in Crete. Just 18 k from the airport it is easy to get to and set in the hills of Krateros in the small town of Sgourokefali. Stelios and his wife, the owners, are very amicable, helpful and leave you with some of their own olive oil, wine and freshly baked sweet treats. The stone built villa has been beautifully modernised with under floor heating for the winter months and air conditioning for the summer. The furniture and decorations are modern but in keeping with the villa. The kitchen is fully equipped, a full BBQ outside and 3 large double bedrooms which have been tastefully decorated. If you need to keep in touch with the outside world WiFi and international TV access are both available. This is a perfect location for 3 couples or a large family. And the major attractions of Heraklion are all just a short drive away. We're already planning our return trip.
